I have several legacy 3D iges wireframe models that I would like to convert into solid sheetmetal parts. Is this possible in SolidWorks?
Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,
Interesting file. doesn't seem to be any clever import options, so as you'll know you get a part with a lot of imported curves, or if you go into the iges open options you can selsct import as sketches which is more useful. Then there's a wee corners on the bend where a few lines seem to overlap in an odd way.
So those corners would need tidying up first, then you could use the sketches to create surfaces to then convert to sheetmetal.
But that's likely going to cause more bother than it's worth, so I'd recommend doing something like the attached instead. Though it's probably not the solution you were hoping for some method of recreating the part using/converting the existing sketches is the most reliable method I can think of to do this in SW.
Hi Bob,
Can you upload an example iges file?
