hello i have recently been brain storming on a vibration grommet / mount that could work in sheet metal . any input on past experiences would be great
There are a whole bunch of them here:
yes, ive been looking at those i guess my application is a bit unique i am attempting to suspend a sheet metal base plate in a box giving the components on the base plate less vibration.
Sheet metal??? - sheet metal is a sound carrier - sheet metal would eventually stress out and tear, just taking a stab at your thinking without having the luxury of seeing a sketch or a picture of the application...
i was thinking these, but i also need ones that are rated for tension loads.
heres a rough sketch
Here is a version that could be mounted to anything:
Product Search - IMAO CORPORATION
If you want to order from them, their only distributor in the states is Fixtureworks.
Workholding Solutions, Equipment & Products - Fixtureworks - Fixtureworks
Check out this stuff, it's not a grommet but it's properties are amazing. Santoprene is the name.
After I posted I saw you added a picture, I assume your using a spacer in the groove to accommodate a larger grommet or bolt. I have always found that they became less resilient as they became larger. Always equals two times in this example.
