I have a large assembly with sub assemblies and I want to explode the sub assemblies
Is it just pulling out the individual parts of the sub-assemblies?
Depending on what you are doing, this checkbox may need to be checked/unchecked -
Another way is to open the sub-assy and explode. In main assembly you can reuse this exploded view by clicking "Reuse Subassembly explode"
Or, if you've exploded your sub-assemblies already. NB, If you explode in top level, you can't re-use the explosion at a lower level.
Looking around for an answer to this.... I can't reuse sub assy explode for some reason, maybe because its a part not an assy but I would think the same functionality would be available. Anyone know where I'm messing up or how I can use my part file's explode steps?
Hi Shane, you are correct, as it's a part the explosion can't be re-used. As a work around, make a new config of the part exploded. Add a new config to the assem, set the part to the exploded config and exploe the other parts. If you've already created the exploded view in another config within the assembly, you can drag exploded views from one config to another to create a copy within the new config.
Well that doesn't seem right... oh well, the workaround isn't bad, I will definitely use this. Thank you Bjorn Hulman
I'm sure it's something SW is planning on rectifying
