Hi,
I have a bunch of .dxf files I am about to convert to Part files.
This mean every geometry is contained within one sketch - including the text that every .dxf file have.
The text need to be engraved in the final part, so I have to keep this feature on the part.
First I make a Boss-Extrude of the outside geometry, and then a Cut-Extrude of the text - but this takes a while as I have to click every single geometry.
Is there a easier way to do this ?
To select everything at once ?
What I would do is insert a new sketch on the face then select every letter sketch & convert the sketch entities - then you could use one Cut Extrude Feature..
My first thought would be Ctrl+A to select all, or use a filter and just window everything.
(or are you needing to grab them from another sketch to convert entities?)

If you are "sharing" the one sketch for the basic extrude and the engraving, when you get to the engraving step, you can click on the sketch in the feature manager tree, then click on convert entities - it will grab everything, so just delete the outside lines, and you will have all of your text ready to engrave.

edit - I guess I didn't "share" the sketch, I created a new sketch, clicked on the original sketch, clicked convert entities, deleted the outside lines, did the engraving.

You can extrude all and then turn on visibility of the shetch.
Then copy all by window selection to new sketch - I guess the sketch lines is all you really need for the engraving anyway?

Thank you for your reply.
I ran into some .dxf files where the text suddenly consisted of 6000 entities. It was more than my computer could handle.
So I decided to delete all text from the .dxf while converting them from .dxf to 2D sketches - and then I used SolidWorks to make new text.
I continued with this procedure throughout the rest of the .dxf files.
