is it possible to restore sql database and vault archive without 'official backups'

      Hi,

Yesterday my server died, the processor failed. No data was lost on the hard drives. So now, I have a new server running with sql2005 and swe2009 installed and I would like to restore the database and vault archive directly from these hard drives.

      Is this possible? How????

Copy your vault databases from your old hard drives to the new server. Unless you installed them in a different directory, you'll find them in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data. You only need the .mdf files.

Don't forget to copy the ConisioMasterDb.mdf

Using SQL Server Management Studio, right click on 'Databases' and choose restore. Choose the databases you copied over.

As for the vault data, you'll need to move the Data directory to the same location on the new machine. (C:\Program Files\PDMWorks Enterprise\Data in all likelihood.)
