Cut list for all configurations of a part

Is it possible to make a cut list table show all configurations of a weldment part? (Not a specific config at a time)

A sample weldment part with several configuration is attatched.

The part contains a Global variable "L" and a custom property that is linked to this variable.

The value of the Global variable changes in each configurations according to a simple calculation.

How can I have a cut list table in a drawing that shows all configurations of this part along with the value of this Global value OR custom property.

Thanks for your time and any kind of advice.

Correct Answer

One option is to create assembly, create configs there and show the BOM in the drawing. For part level, create the design table and then insert that table in the drawing.

Hi Habib

I'd be interested to hear of your results. In the past I did as Deepak suggested and created an assembly. I made a component pattern and then used an extra row representing the instance number of the component to select each config using a DT. I copy/pasted from the part DT to the assembly DT transposing column to rows to get the config names, can't quite remember how that works

I had a BOM with detailed cutlist, you can add any properties as columns. BUT the resulting cutlist was corrupted with lengths all mixed up. I might add that this was not just a part but configured sub assemblies of configured parts. I'd really like to use this again and find out what I did wrong or is it not possible. I'm using SW15 SP4

Rob, I'm working on it and am trying to follow Deepak suggestions. But still it seems that I'm quite far away the goal.

I inserted to part into an assembly and added BOM. Now I'm playing with BOM type, Configurations & Part Configuration Grouping settings to see if it shows what I need.

Shaft is a Configuration specific property and ShaftLength is a custom property.

As you see BOM shows them all the same value, while when in assembly level I change the configuration the value is 250-300-350 & 400

I'm having another go at my problem assemblies but I'm still one level less deep on the configs

This is 2 configs of the same part in a sub assembly, but then 3 configs of this sub assembly in a main assembly. The part is a weldment

It represents a 3 stage manufacture process where the compoments of two assemblies are glued together separately before being machined and re-assembled

I have some more work to do but here is how I have my BOM, it seems to be working correctly so far

edit: my end goal is to put a whole project (or mulitiple projects) into an assembly, generate a cutlist and then export to Excel and sort by stock thickness, length etc to generate an optimised workflow in the shop

sorry I didn't see all of your response in the browser. I'm not sure what your problem is. Custom properties have always worked for me, the problem I had was with cutlist items.

One thing I noticed on my problem assembly was using a global variable, making sure it is configured correctly. also make sure you have the correct configuration for the BOM, that one has bitten me before. It was showing a different config than the one I was looking at

edit: you have it working now wonderful..

Do you know what the prob was?
