Ever since we installed 17 we've been have problems with corrupt assembly files. One file for example we can't even open cause it says it corrupt. Other files we close and don't save. Were able to reopen them and work on them. Any idea's?

A few of us were having this issue on SP2.0, we recently went to SP3.0 and it went away . . . at least for a while, it looks as though it might be happening again.
I plan to do some more testing after I finish up a few other things, until then I just suppress the "problem child".
(Luckily I don't need that particular subassembly right now.)

I can't give you an answer in regards to why you are having issues with SW17.
Personally we haven't experience many issues with SOLIDWORKS 2017 at all.
There is a way you should be able to open the files you are having issues with and then save them.
An Error was Encountered … DON’T PANIC – SOLIDWORKS ASSEMBLY #SOLIDWORKS | Michael Lord
I open an assembly that is read only. I get write access to it and then change out or modify a part. go to save it and get the corrupt message. Then make it back to the drawing and save the drawing that wants to save the assembly and it goes ok. trying to save the assembly to the hard drive was not working at all.
this is enough to drive one nuts....
has anyone found that read only parts tend to cause this problem more than other parts. I showed a sketch in a read only part and solidworks wanted to save that part. Every time I would try to save the assembly it would say corrupt na. sry start over....
I don't like to start over so I kept trying this and that and till I opened the part that was read only that I showed a sketch in and closed it without saving or keeping changes...then the assembly has been good to go.
between this and not being able to send in crash reports IT had decided to reinstall solidworks on my machine. see if that solves the problems....I really doubt it.
Service Pack 3.0 is out and it apparently has addressed a lot of these issues. If you are using that and still having these problems then please make sure your problems are being loudly reported to your VAR. Insist on an SPR number. If you are not using SP3.0 then give it a try.
