I was wondering if there is anyway to bend this tab in sheetmetal
to look something like this through sheetmetal
thanks,
best regards,

Hi Jay Che, Do you have an updated file to share for this part with the features you used? I'm try to build something very similar and I'm struggling to get the tab on my cylinder to bend correctly using sheet-metal features
Matthew,,, I didn't "chime in" on this a year ago because I thought it was way too much work for what it's worth. This is what I came up with. Do a base flange with small flats spaced to be in the center of the bent in areas. Then added a backbone strip (boss extrude) on the flat regions, the length of the tabs. Add miter flanges to the backbone at the same radius of the cylinder (or sillynder). Then sketch bends for the tabs. Fill the gaps with some surfacing tools. Then in another configuration suppress the fill in stuff and flatten. Fill in the areas that need to be filled in while in the flat pattern.
EDIT:.... another screenshot of the sketch bends (3 in one folder) suppressed. No fill at the bottom.
I'll add on to this just in case Jay doesn't chime in since it has been awhile. I like the idea of using a "Deform" on this and that is probably the route I would take, and have used many times in the past on more complex stuff, since it makes for a better visual in the formed state. This is a simplified model. First do your cylinder as a base flange, Make your cut(s) between a fold and unfold. Make another body from the unfolded one and do an insert bends on it. Then a sketch bend. Then do the deform, curve to curve, with the target curve at the correct length. Crank up the accuracy with these options.
Had nothing better to do this evening.
Not that I'm aware of
Maybe Dennis Bacon could chime in..
