When inserting parts into an assembly sometimes they come in a strange orientation. I have used the move with Triad command, but I find it uneasy to use. Coming from inventor there was a way to orbit parts regardless of existing mates. It was very handy. You could also use it to yank a part out of the way and the next time you hit update it would reapply the mates.
Is there an equivalent for either of these in solidworks ( 1. Free rotate of a part, or 2. Having the assembly ignore mates till the next update?)
If it's the second component in, then you can free drag it all you want by using the mouse.
