I need to make a mold from a part and have no idea on how to do this. Its a simple part but have never done this. Please help
Sketch1 is not fully defined and has a "strange" dimension.
No face draft in the part.
If you can fix up these issues I can show you how to use the mold tools.
Go to YouTube
In the search bar, type:
Press the enter key on your keyboard
Watch and learn
You also may want to go to this section of the Solidworks Forums:
Plastics and Mold Design
And, as already noted, your part does not have draft. No reason to even bother splitting your part into core/cavity until the part is properly design for being injection molded. There is a bit of discussion on the importance of draft here:
Help on Mold Design
I suggest you also study up on plastic part design, design for manufacture. A Google and/or YouTube search for "plastic part design for injection molding" will give you a lot of information.
This would be a simple part to be molded
See the below image with Parting line and 2 pins for slide (2 holes)
I appreciate the creative smart comments. Thanks
It is nice that you can acknowledge awesome responses, there are some really good "Mold" designers here on the forum and they like to see someone make an attempt, but they don't like to do it for you, because that's not how you learn
It might be a good idea to start with something a little simpler and work up to some more complex molds with holes, etc. Below is the screenshot of the attached model with the simpler mold (tabs and holes removed). Check out the model and study the three mold features at the bottom. When creating molds, its best to use the mold tools in the command manager and work left to right, starting with Parting Line feature. Draft Analysis should also be used to make sure your part has enough draft and helps determine where to split the tooling.
Benjamin thank you for the HELPFUL comments.
