I have a single part model and want to cut the head of this model as I mentioned in the picture by red line. With which method I can do it?
This is an elaboration on what John Stoltzfus mentioned. Do a surface offset of 0 on your (what looks like) revolve. Then do a delete hole - Select edge then delete hole. The you can do a split. In the dialog save assign names and save the bodies.
Also like to save them as two separated parts
One way would be to add a .000" offset Surface and then use that to split the part as well...
You could try the Combine tool, it would extract one part body from another.
Please see attached.
PS. though there are many other ways to accomplish this.
On a bit of an unrelated note - what did you use to record your work?
At home, I use the built in recording program "Shadow Play" that comes with Nvidia GPUs, but it's a bit more gaming focused and still has some bugs in it. I was wondering if there was a simpler alternative for work related things, cause that would be handy to have from time to time at the office.
I am using Camtasia Studio 8 (Camtasia Recorder 8). It's a very simple tool to use, with some capabilities that makes it a monster of video creation
Hope it helps,
I actually just heard of that for the first time about 10 minutes prior to reading your reply. Funny that.
I'll definitely have to check it out. Thanks for the tip. Simple is always good!
Nice,, I see there is no need for the surface offset. I will blame hair-brained idea on John.
Tis called a "Brain Fart"
In defense of John Stolzfus he did mention using 0, zero. I'd like to start a petition that we use ╪ or Alt 2 1 6. No spaces! I wonder if this will show correctly in the forums?
Guess not! I was looking to have the slashed zero display. Please ignore the petition suggestion!
So you are saying that by mentioning zero offset he meant no offset at all.. Brilliant!!
You got the best suggestions so far and all's correct !!!
There is another way when you build the head, uncheck the option "Merge result" so you end up with 2 separate bodies (multi-body part) - Body and head - just hide or delete the head body if you don't want to
Christian Chu That's called "Design Intent" and the proper way
