I've got a bunch of configurations and some different cameras. I'd like to specify which camera to use with each configuration, but it seems to be independent (whatever camera I manually switch to is active, no matter what configuration I choose).

To add to what S. Casale said, you can link your display states to your configurations, so that each configuration has a separate display state.
RMB on the Display State at the bottom of the configuration tab and select Properties:
Then check the box below:
This will create a new display state for each configuration.
Then you can control your cameras with configurations.
Hi Tristan,
Cameras and configurations seem to be very limited in creating dependancies, as far as I can tell the only you can create between a camera and a configuration is to suppress it. Unfortunately when the camera is suppressed it doesn't jump to the active camera, but just goes back to a normal view window. As far as I can tell, there is no linking cameras to display states, I am only on SW2014 however, so maybe there is more functionality in later versions.
