I am working on an assembly with eight total configurations, and there are five parts on certain configurations that, some if not all mates are suppressed.
I went into the "configurations properties" like some suggested, to uncheck the "suppress new features", but none of those options were selected. This only happens in certain configurations, and it seems no matter how many times I repair the mates it still wont take.
all of those boxes are unchecked. These particular parts that, whose mates wont stay, are all in the same place throughout every configuration.
Have you tried configuring the actual mates themselves? I have also had this type of problem and had to configure them this way.
Basic question, are both parts in the 'suppressed' mates unsuppressed in the problem configurations? Mates automatically suppress if either of the parts in them are suppressed.
To add on to what Steven is saying, when those parts are unsuppressed their mates remain suppressed, unless the mates were unsuppressed when the part was suppressed. In that case the mate suppression state follows the parts involved.
none of the parts that I'm having issues with are suppressed in any of the configurations.
Talked to tech support, and they said that because some of the parts in the configuration that i was using was suppressed, it suppressed the mates for the parts that added to it. So instead of suppressing parts in that model for each configuration hide them and all the mates stay intact....if that makes sense???
If you could post the files it would sure make it easier to really understand your situation. Without that we are speculating and guessing at things that could be going on. Some of your descriptions are confusing so I'm not 100% clear as to what is going on.
Is it possible you are using a subassembly and trying to suppress/unsuppress components within it? It is very easy to make and select configurations for a subassy.
Different problem then. Any chance you can post the problem assembly? It would really help us see the problem.
Try the "Configure component" dialog box. That will tell you what the state is in all active configs at a glance.
EDIT: Also right click on the mates in question and select "Configure Feature" That will bring up the dialog box for the mate. You will see what configs it is suppressed and unsuppressed.
A little followup to this. There are configurations at both the top level of the assembly, and each part/sub-assembly also has configurations. And what part/sub-assembly configuration is used is controlled by the assembly configuration above it.
Hold control key and select multiple parts/sub-assemblies in the top level assembly. Then right-click and use the 'configure component' tool. You'll get something like this;
You see the areas in a yellow highlight? That controls what configuration the parts/sub-assemblies use in each configuration.
Make sure everything is set how you want it, and be sure to hit the 'rebuild all configurations' after you are done. This seems to help any changes set better and be more stable.

It can get complicated, especially since this information isn't easily seen upfront. But these are some of the basics of using configurations.
For making new assemblies it is very helpful to make sure that "Suppress new features" is checked/unchecked per your intentions.
For existing configurations you might be well served to make a Design Table allowing it to automatically create the table's contents. This will put in any dimension or state that differs between any configurations. From there you can very easily see and control suppression states, among other things.
