Has anyone else noticed that when creating 80/20 weldments, it is painfully slow? It looks like dynamic highlight is trying to select all edges and faces when doing operations like trim/extend. Is there some way to turn this off (I already have options>feature manager>dynamic highlight unchecked)?

Something we did to improve performance was to create a version that suppresses all of the small v-grooves on the surfaces. If you don't specifically need these as part of your design suppressing them does make a substantial improvement.
Below is a comparison of the same profile in full detail and simplified / defeatured.

I also noted that the sides of the extrusion aren't actually flat. Is that realistic or is there some issue with the sketches that I got?

If I knew that it has gone the way of the Dodo... I am pretty sure we got our profile sketches directly from the 8020 web site. I just opened the weldment profile sketches and our profile sides are flat and parallel to the major planes. Perhaps we made that edit, but at this point I am pretty convinced these are "as received" profiles.

As received / downloaded from 8020 - probably in the 2008 time frame.
Thanks Daen, I'll go download the profiles from 8020. A coworker had originally set these up so it could just be that something went wrong along the way.
The "real" profiles are not flat, but trying to work with them in that condition is cumbersome and an invitation for problems.
