Solids to sheetmetal conversion

Hello SW users,

I was wondering if this part that was created using solids is able to be converted into a sheetmetal part? If so I'm not completely sure where to place the rip since the feature was shelled out and only open on one side.

Advice would be helpful.

There shouldn't be any problem creating a sheet metal part out of this shape. Can you zip and post the shelled part?

    Now for some reason on cylinderical parts I'm not able to rip and unbend. Please look at the attached pic and let me know if a flat pattern is possible after creating the geometry in solids.

      Yes, did you create a gap on the back side of the cylinder? See "cylindrical faces in sheet metal parts" in the help file. I usually make the gap to be .001".

        I did create a cut on the back side. Does this cut to be done in the sketch that was used to create the cylinder? Currently I have it as an addition feature.
