The ability to select faces to pattern has been in the software for about...ever
I've tried using it on a couple of occasions, but have always gotten a message kicking back the selection-"cannot attach faces to body"
Just out of curiosity, anyone been able to use this option in creating a pattern feature and can you show me what you used it for?
I've used it a time or two when patterning holes. If the hole I wanted to pattern was itself created with a hole pattern, then selecting the hole as a feature to pattern would pattern the entire set of holes from the previous pattern. Selecting faces to pattern allowed me to pattern the single hole.
I think that's probably the most times the word "pattern" was ever used in three consecutive sentences. I hope it made sense.

I don't know. I've only run into this a time or two, but in those cases, yes, as far as I remember the new hole was going onto the same face as the seed.
