I know this button was used to work perfectly for me before.
But now when I click on "where used" nothing happens.
Instead of reinstalling I restored my settings from my colleague's solidworks settings I knew he was using my solidworks settings.
that solved problem.
I must have changed some option accidently.
Thank you all for your help
Perhaps your file just isn't checked in? Based on the image above, if your file were checked in you would see your file in the File/Variable field.
Hope this might help.
By the shadow, it looks like you used SnagIt or some other screen capture tool to cover the file area of the window. Try the same operation inside PDM in Explorer and report back if that works. This should still work for you so it may be possible this file simply isn't used in other files.
Just a thought.
Believe in The Q!
Thank you Dan and Tim for your quick responses.
This is old part already checked in and I know it is used at lots of places.
Yes you are correct I just cover that using snagit, yes where used tab in my epdm explorer works fine but it is not working on solidworks add-in.
Thank you again
1) Yes it shows correctly (it is good to have that button working instead of going to explorer every time)
2) No there are not duplicate items in the vault.
Might be worth throwing it at your VAR as a bug...
I'm sure you tried the whole restart and etc.
interesting thing is that all other users don't have such problem.
Thank you all for your inputs
Is this the only item that has this issue?
Might have been asked.
No, it doesn't work for any part.
Going to EPDM explorer every time is little bit annoying.
My suggestion is to uninstall both SW and PDM, and reinstall.
S. Casale C'mon..that seems to be the answer for every EPDM/SW issue that comes up these days. That is a minimum of a 30-45 minute task for the IT personnel and isn't something companies like to do. If you are a smaller organization and you outsource your IT. This might become a serious charge to your budget. Their has to be realistic answers to situations like this.
Samir Panchal What version of Windows are you running and have you ensured that all the correct service packs are not loaded. Let's start by ensuring that you are running the correct Windows toolsets first. Then we can work up from there. This might take more time but at least it is an attempt to identify what is the root cause and not just a blanket nuke and reinstall.
This is the only way to know after all testing whether it's a bug or not...
That would still be hard to determine. Your Windows updates occurred prior the to the reinstall. Then you can't tell if it is a SW, EPDM or Windows issue. :-) I agree with your resolution. I just feet that it is a bunch of "hooey" that has to happen to fix a piece of software that you are paying $6-12,000 for! Not to mention maintenance. But don't get me started on that with SW...just makes me more frustrated.
Hey Ryan, you ok man? I haven't ever seen your posts come off so hot!
Hey, look, if you have a complaint about the cost of your tools or stability of them, open an SR for the specific issue you are experiencing by contacting your VAR. Broadcasting your frustration and lack of customer satisfaction for the SOLIDWORKS product family on the forum isn't helping Samir find a solution.
Here's what I see:
Since this issue is isolated to your machine, consider unloading your SW PDM add-in and reloading it. If that doesn't resolve the issue, try repairing the install of your PDM to see if it resolves it.
When did you notice the behavior beginning? I would estimate the behavior started when you upgraded to PDM 2017 but as I asked in my last post, I need to know what version, service pack, and PDM type you are using.
I am using version # 16.04.0093 for EPDM and SW 2016 with SP 4.0 installed.
I think I will try reinstalling, problem with me it takes long to get IT to take care it.
I will keep posting you guys, thank you all for your help.
All other users at my company don't have any problem at all and funny part is that they don't even know existence of that button.
