I'm trying to model a wire wrapped several times around a ferrite core (read Donut). See the picture for a quick sketch.

My first thought was a spline, but getting it to actually be repeatable is difficult. The second thought was to model a helical wire, and flex it to the right shape, but I've never used flex and I don't know how it works.
