I have an embedded AutoCad File. I keep getting "Failed to Launch Server Application" when double clicking to open it in AutoCad. I really want to do the schematic in Solidworks and remove the AutoCad reference.
Sorry I'm not 100% sure on this but if you activate the sketch do all the entities on the drawing turn blue?
It isn't a sketch in Solidworks. It is an embedded file that someone pasted into the file. I am trying to remove it and just create a sketch or block of the schematic for future users.
Perhaps you can trace over it, create a block and hide it? I'm sorry I'm not sure but I do have embedded drawings in some models but only for references to the original design and usually hidden. Do you have SW Electrical? But because I have no real experience with it I don't think it will work. In some of my work we did use CircuitWorks but on a limited basis, the PCB mechanical data was shared with the PCB designers and then re-imported back into SW to double check the mechanicals.
I believe I have found the issue. I believe the AutoCad file was created in a newer version. I have AutoCad 2012.
