Hi guys! I am very new in solidworks and I tried to model the F-14. However the intake part has caused me a lot of trouble. My approach is first construct the fuselage part then assemble the wings and intake part into it, but it seems to be very hard to mate the intake onto the fuselage. As the fuselage is so curvy, interference seems inevitable while mating the intake onto it. How can I solve it? Feel free to give me any suggestion or solution! Thanks!
What that means is to mate the front of the assembly to the front of the part. The top to the top ect... Now, this might not place things where you want exactly so you may need to offset a plane from the assembly plane or yu may need to mate it at an angle. I have also started placing axis at the intersections of the planes of each part or assembly for use in mating. If you mate things this way the part will stay located where you want it to. Then you will be able to change the contour of the part to where it will match the other parts in the assembly. You can make a part active while in the assembly and use surfaces from other parts to trim them if you need to.
