Assembly with swinging doors

I have an assembly which has several doors contained within it. I would either like to create mates such that the doors can be dragged open and shut, or at the very least create two different configurations or display states with one showing the doors open and the other showing the doors closed. I have made a hinge sub assembly but have not been successful in creating mates which allow the doors to swing open, and I have very little experience with managing configurations or display states so I do not really know where to begin with that method, but my goal would be to have them mated to the body in different ways in the different configurations. I think one thing which has made this particularly difficult is that the doors and object to which I am mounting them are not flat and were created from thickened surfaces. Any links to tutorials about how to create hinge mates, or to switch mate types between configurations/display states would be greatly appreciated.
