Hi, I have imported co-ordinates for a NACA 0012 aerofoil, and they work fine when put directly into solidworks, however when I put them into excel and multiply ALL values by a factor of 700, I get an error saying the curve is self intersecting, it is getting very annoying now after spending hours on it. When looking at it point by point the curve forms perfectly in solidworks but for some reason when I press OK it refuses to work. I found out for the top and bottom surface, solidworks does not want to plot after point 40, so its the end segment thats being problematic and I'm clueless as to why. I've even tried to use different co-ordinates and ended up with the same problem. Anyone know what's wrong? Thanks
The first thing that came to mind is: are any of your coordinates set to 0 or very close to it?
Example: Before you scale it, you could have 2 points.....1 at 0,0 and another at .0001,.0001.
When you bring it into excel and back again, it may be rounding the .0001 down to 0......which would mean that you now have 2 points overlapping each other. This would only be exacerbated with the scale.
