I would second what Steve said. From talking to my VAR a couple years ago about this there wasn't too many people using this function at that time. I took the training about 5 years ago and this feature wasn't even discussed then. Simple html was but nothing to this extent. I would suggest you reach out to your VAR and ask if they can possibly put you in touch with someone who is using this feature or train you. If you have seen this feature used on other companies websites reach out to them and ask for advice. I have done this and had it done to me and I have yet to not find help or not give it when asked. While I wouldn't expect a company to drop everything to train me you can learn a lot pretty quick from someone actively using it. If using Youtube for Training you need to search Solidworks Composer as Steve said...the link you posted is old and pretty sure Studio was scrapped.
Cheers,
Derek
Steve and Derek,
correction of my posting: I think that SOLIDWORKS Composer alone is not the right tool for building up a webshop like shown in the youtube-video.
Composer will give you interactive buttons and animations but a webshow requires additional API that can maybe be accomplished with "SOLIDWORKS Composer" + "Composer player Pro" The basic discipline of Composer still is technical illustrations - right? : Disciplines
Hi Dominik,
i don't think so. Composer is a tool to create nonverbal technical "communication". Illustrations are one of the possibilities!
One other possibility is to create spare part catalogs. In this case it's very useful to link from parts to this catalog to handle the whole supply process.
Ok this part is not done by Composer itself but the content (SVG, or player content) can be able to transmit the metainfos to a webshop for instance.
Hi Dominik,
You are right you should use sw composer+player pro to publish some html template. And maybe you can customize the html with API. (I haven't tried) . However if you publish html it only works with internet explorer. My VAR said that you can publish 3DVIA Studio. Actually 3DVIA Studio had scrapped i think. I can publish but i can't work it well.
Anyone has worked with 3DVIA Studio?
We worked with Studio 3 years ago. And life ends 2015. There is no more development, only some service for the existing customers. Afterwards we changed to unity. This engine is working without using Composer content.
Using 3D content from Composer will be able, if Dassault changes completely the player.
- working on html 5
- realistic performance on low end grafik
- usability on smartphones (Android, IOS)
Hi Serkan,
What you are looking for is the ability to publish custom HTML templates from within Composer to create online parts catalogs? This is realistically achieved by purchasing a license of composer player pro and working with a web developer to creating usable content.
I would recommend reaching out to Digabit since they have worked directly with Composer as a publishing tool for online catalogs.
Hi Guys,
Take a sneek peek to the article I wrote on a SOLIDWORKS Composer: Online Shop | LinkedIn , this might be a solution
Feel free to ask me any questions.
Regards,
Ivan Adamov
Hi Serkan,
I am working on an 3D interactive parts manual that publishes to html. It's in it's prototype phase, but I have built an html shell to house the composer player. The html exported is really ugly - so all I do is grab the code generated and put it into html pages formatted to work for us.
It's true it only works on Explorer and your computer needs to have a good graphics card as well as use activeX to work.
I'd be happy to share with you what I've learned in the past several months about this process. I too have had a very hard time finding anyone doing anything quite like we are.
Kim
You're talking bout 3DVia studio, right?
That's another software that is not included in SoldiWorks but using the same technique to render actors.
I do not know that product in detail but the UI and output completly differs from what you see and get in SOLIDWORKS Composer - hence I'm afraid nobody can give you professional feedback here.
hope i could clarify some things.
