It is possible to create a forming tool based on attached drawing ?
Why not just use the hole wizard?
I create a database with existing tools.
Gheorghe,,, If you want to make a forming tool to form your sheet metal parts look at the tutorials. I like to make the form tools since, like you, I have a database and my cam software picks up the tool id. What I did here is a "Revolved Boss/Base" then used the sheet metal "Forming Tool" to set it up prior to saving it to my forming tools folder. Save as > form tool....
Now,,, since the form tool does just like the name says, "FORM" (no flow of material) and not "COIN" you will get a flare on the opposite side of the sheet metal part. What I do is prior to using the the c'sink tool is offset the surface opposite by 0 and then use that to cut the flare with the"SurfaceCut" feature.
Thanks for the reply.
Can you sent an example of your database?
It is possible that an forming tool take into properties id tool and a DWG (DXF) simbol for CAM?
No, I can't send you an example of my database. I'm actually semi-retired now and haven't done any programming for over 10 years but do still design work for many companies. I have always saved direct into my cad/cam software and that software picks up the tool id. I worked very closely with the software development team in the 80's thru 2000 for this software and we were able to accomplish this. I seriously doubt that information can be saved to a dxf or dwg but I have never had to in 20 years of cad programming (and an additional 10 years of manual) save out as that. If there is not a way to do this from SW to dxf or dwg I would think that it would behoove the SW development team to work on it. Frank Ruepp
you can actually create and attach a Punch ID with the forming tool. You will have to set up a "PunchID" property in the forming tool:
And this information can be used i.e. in the punch table:
Hope this helps.
