I've specified a gradient background color in settings. Yet every time I start the program, it reverts back to plain Jane one color. Why are my changes in settings not saving?
The changes I'm making are system options and should be global. No saving necessary other than hitting the OK button when exiting the options window. At least that's the way it's been for the last 15+ years of using the program. Has that changed recently? I did try however to modify the template, but the program will not let me (read-only). But I should not have to have to modify a template to make changes to system options. So something is really screwy here.
are you saving your document that you made the changes to?
No you don't - but you should copy your changes with the Copy Settings Wizard - so the next time you just load your settings and you're done....
Doesn't make sense that your template is read only, that seems to point that you don't have the proper permissions to make those changes or the permissions settings weren't set up properly....
I get what you're saying about using the copy wizard, which probably comes in handy when you switch to another computer and want to take your settings with you, etc. But I'm still left wondering why all of the sudden this is happening. It all started when I opened up a file which was created by someone else. Somehow the settings within that file (or lack thereof) made a permanent change to my system that I cannot revert.
The only thing I can think of would be to go back to that file you mentioned and make the changes there (although you may have already tried that). This may be a problem to take up with your VAR.
Change your settings and then save the Drawing/Part/Assembly Templates, when done use the Copy Wizard to save those settings..
Are you making that change at Tools > Options > System Options > Colors?
