Let me briefly describe my problem: I work on a laptop and take it with me quite often. I have a server in place where my toolbox is located. I can acces it over the LAN but when I take my laptop out with me, that's where the problems begin: SolidWorks doesn't like a path with a drive letter, so client softwares for (S)FTP(S) or WebDAV aren't an ideal solution neither does it allow me to specify a 'ftp://' or 'http://' path.
Does anyone know of a solution?

As a high school student, it's mainly standard components (bolts, nuts, washers...).
If I use your solution, wouldn't SolidWorks give me a message saying it is not properly installed for multiple computers? Can I get rid of the message? Your solution would do the job pretty easily though, thanks!

Dave, how would that work with multiple users? Specially when they open the same assembly file, there may be issues due to files references.
I've been using a similar setup like I've described and never got into any issues w.r.t. file references.
Create a folder in your laptop and set up the path like you've on the server (you would need to use Map network drive option). And then copy the entire toolbox content in that. This way all relation with the toolbox files with be maintained.
The only difference in both methods is the path. If you do not keep the same path, then there could be issues related to file references.
For e.g. Toolbox path on server is \\SOLIDWORKS Data\Toolbox 2016\. Now if you don't have the same path on the local machine (even you sync the files with the server), there is good chances of files references messed up. So to avoid any issue related to file references, it's better to keep both path same.
I tried this solution earlier. SolidWorks would give me a message saying it still isn't properly configered because it uses a drive letter. Can you get rid of that stupid message?
By the way, Dave's solution has the advantage of being able to use the files when you're offline. Doesn't SolidWorks automatically look in the specified toolbox directory instead of looking for the original one?

Hi Brent,
Does your workplace use many customized toolbox components or are they mainly standard? Could you not have a dedicated folder on the laptop for the 'Toolbox' and have this synced with your server toolbox components whenever you're back in the office?
