I am using SolidWorks 2015 and I am not getting any corner reliefs on my sheet metal parts. Do they have to be added manually? Here is the corner:
Here is the flat pattern:
These parts cannot be manufactured without corner reliefs. Please help!
I'm not sure what you are getting at Robert. Your flat pattern looks good to me. Are you not using a press brake to bend the part? If you would like to add additional reliefing prior to flattening you should use the "Corner Relief" tool. There are many options there and is quite simple. I would also check your flat pattern options. Looks like you have simplify bends on and also corner treatment checked. For a part like this that should be ok. In my screenshot below I added mold lines so you can see there would not be an issue when manufactured using a brake. My material is .059, BR is .01 and the gap is .005. Added:.. Bend deduction is .090.
This is with corner treatment unchecked.
I typically add corner trim as last Feature, Bend Waist works the Best for most of my applications.
The setting take some getting used to.
Andreas I discovered that feature, too. However, you may want to read Dennis' answer below; it may save you a lot of design time by turning off the "Simplify Bends" and "Corner Treatments" buttons in the Document Properties. Your corner reliefs will show up automatically.
Robert, for Gauge Material that is typically what we do. 1/4" and up I try to get it closer with the Corner Trim.
You were correct...with simplify bends and corner treatment checked I was not getting the correct relief cuts; now I am getting the correct reliefs on creating new parts. However, when I uncheck simplify bends and corner treatment on old parts, the corner reliefs do not update. Does this mean I have to go back and recreate all my old parts from scratch?
I would think all you have to do is edit your Flat-Pattern feature in the feature manager tree.
Great..thank you so much!!! You saved me a bunch of time and work.
