I never use 'Cosmetic Thread' in Hole Wizard, but nevertheless, it is always ticked as standard ?
Can I disable this ?
This may be summarised in this Enhancement Request which you can vote for in the Customer Portal via the SPR number if it fits the description..
I have however tested on my machine and it seems to remember the last option I used the next time I use Hole Wizard- if that makes sense. I do recall from some of the What's New documentation that more of the feature properties are "sticky" (i.e. remembered) but it does look like you're at least on SW 2016.
Thank you for telling me.
In my version it seems like it sometimes remember it, and sometimes it don't. It is quite random, but pretty annoying.
I am using 2017SP2 btw.
If I may ask, why turn it off?
I prefer the option 'Remove Thread'.
Then the hole gets the dimension of the thread (example: M6 = diameter 6mm).
It makes it easier to add additional chamfers in the CAM process, but most important, I dont have to watch the dashed lines in my assemblies.
Nevertheless, I would be glad if SolidWorks could remember my prefered settings for this no matter what my preference is.
Interesting. I'm a designer/detailer and ect..... I like them on. It makes it lot easier to tell a hole from.a tap apart. Don't think I ever had a CAM operator come to me about something like this. I'm assuming your using 3D models?
