In this video a plane is created on the sphere to obtain this surface. It is created in a way (time 5.24 - 6.56). I am able to create the same plane in a different way. I wish to know whether my one is correct to do so.

If the results are the same, both are correct.
It's a matter of how easy to do it or approach you like
I am not a believer of end justify the means. I want means to justify the end.
You are the designer. You are the one who must determine the best way to define the plane that reflects the needs of the design.
To be sure, there are always bad ways to do things. But there are always choices to make.
Is your way the right way? If someone asks "Why did you do it this way?" and you have a coherent answer, then you did it the right way.
I'm not following you. If you get what you want, then it's correct. Why you don't trust yourself ?
As everyone has said if your way works then it is the correct way. That being said I would not have done it your way but I also would not have done it the way shown in the video but that doesn't make it wrong. You will find in this program there are several ways to do things and while I tend to be glad when I find a faster way it doesn't make a slower way wrong as long as the end result is the same.

I disagree a bit.
It all depends on the function.....Yes, the end result is the same, but how you get there is very important, depending on what you are doing. Yes, I know that there are 1000's of ways of doing everything.
Example: I personally know an engineer who (he doesn't work here) absolutely refuses to place any constraints (other than the ones that snap endpoints together) or dimensions in a sketch. He says that it is a waste of time.
Now.....is his way wrong? Not specifically. If you are just kicking something out for testing material purposes or to try out a feature of Solidworks, then this method is just fine. It got the job done.
However, his way is a GIANT waste of time if there are any revisions happening to it, or if the sketch reflects something vital or of safety concerns at the end of the design. Unconstrained sketches can (not always) do a lot of damage that isn't easy to fix, especially if there are other people involved.
Personally: If the guy that I mentioned above were designing the wings of an airplane or seatbelts on cars and he worked for me, then he would either change the way he does it or he would have to find another job.
The end doesn't always justify the means.
Good lord that's a convoluted way to get there. Why not just sketch on one of the main planes, or the hex surface. Then cut away.....
Or: Since you're going perpendicular to the angled line, draw another sketch line perpendicular, and the length = the distance you want that plane at. Make the plane with the line and the end point. Create a HUGE circle so and cut.
Orrrrr: Do it the way he has with the first plane, but create the sketch on plane 1. When you do the cut with the HUGE circle, offset the cut.

The flat is created with the Angled Face feature using only one sketch on the Front Plane.
Sketch 5, Plane1, Plane2, Plane 3 and Cut-Extrude4 were not necessary and were supressed.
I can understand now, without using any plane you made it.

I don't really like the idea of turning a SW model into a "fewest features" contest. (Don't even get me started on "fewest mouse-clicks"!) An extra layout sketch or datum feature can go a long way to preserving the integrity of a model through the life of a project. Usually there is no discernable difference in rebuild time, and it can save a lot of time later in the project.
Roland, can you agree to generate that flat face that a simple 'extrude cut' is more than adequate?
I have no way to ascertain that a simple extrude cut is adequate. Neither do you. None of us besides the OP has access to the design requirements for the part or familiarity with the system it is a part of.
I absolutely agree, but creating 3 planes unecessarily is overkill and adds no extra stability.
YouTube method is a jugglery. But it made to know about using project option in PLANE tool. I am looking for any video with project option in YouTube.
