When I instal the SolidWorks, I got the error "sldim exe has stopped working". How can I fix it.
If he got through the first disk completely and a few minutes of loading the second DVD (and yes, the SolidWorks programs will be on DVD - They are big and CD's don't hold nearly that much data) the installation should have been nearly complete and will have loaded nearly all the critical files.
SLDIM.exe is the installation manager for SolidWorks.
The problem is the installation crashed.
Have you tried to re-install using the disks?
It sounds like you either have a problem with the second disk (maybe corrupted or scratched...).
See if you can search the first disk or the files it has already downloaded and see if you can locate the Sldim.exe file.
If you can, try running that and see if it installs.
When forum people ask for more details we usually want to know:
What version of SolidWorks (the 2016-2017 version is the educational version).
What Operating system are you running?
What video card?
Laptop or desk top and what brand and specifications.
and then what happened and when - how much time, what the conditions are - which you answered in your response above that it was during the second disk that it failed.
These will help forum users to determine if your system is able to use the software you are trying to install.
You can also try to un-install and re-install in case a file got corrupted.
If all else fails, do as Christian Chu said and contact your VAR (Value Added Re-seller) or the place you got the disks from.
Could anyone help me
Call tech support directly. Or give us more detail than 'It stopped working'.
But there is no more detail. While it is installing there is an error occurred "sldim exe has stopped working" and the installation stopped.
Does it stop at the beginning, or after trying to install for 20 min? Do you even get a loading screen? Any indication that it's detecting another SW install and so stopping? Are you loading from CD or from online?
And again, it would be better if you call tech support directly. Usually through your SW re seller.
I use Solidworks 2016-2017 bu DVD. I get the error after 2-3 minutes later for 2nd DVD. So I think it is around 20 minutes after installation. I did not get any. I bought it from studica.com, so should I contact with them or with Solidworks technical team?
DVD? Um, are you playing a video SolidWorks? Because this forum is for the CAD program. You should be installing them from CDs.
Seriously though. SolidWorks likes to sub-contract it's tech support to re-sellers, and that place just looks like a store front for many diffrent softwares. Symmetry Solutions is the re-seller for the Mid-west of America for example. Otherwise google SolidWorks Customer Portal. You should have the best luck with SCP (customerportal.solidworks.com), though you need your license information for that one.
I didn't understand what is "playing a video SolidWorks". I use CAD Solidworks. So is this forum a CAT SolidWorks form? I cam to me as 2 DVD.
DVDs are usually used for videos and media. Not computer programs. CDs are used by computers. Though that tradition is changing slowly.
They are both disks with a reflective surface. But they are usually used for one thing or another. I was joking with you.
.... Actually that might be the problem if it's failing right away. Your trying to use DVDs in a CD only drive, or vice-versa. THEY ARE DIFFERENT KINDS OF DATA STORAGE HARDWARE, each needing a certain kind of disk reader. And you might have gotten a box with both types of disks in it, not the same program on two disks.
Come on now, the guy is struggling.
I reinstalled it and I could install it successfully.
But on the end page there is a note: "Internal Error: The Installation Manager wants to display a message to you, but can't find the text (ID #26521) You may need to reinstall the Installation Manager."
I couldn't understand it.
I don't know what that message means either - never seen it.
Did you do a reboot of your computer after the successful installation and then restart the SolidWorks program to see if it still opens correctly and if there are any error messages?
I reboot my computer and restart Solidworks and I didn't get any error message..
Pleased to hear that
Ok, new thing I learned today.
The best bet is to contact your VAR for support
By the way, can you show your computer spec here?
and read this for more info
