What mate is applicable here? I have used the cam follower mate which makes the follower follow the surface. but how do i make my cam follower roll?
So, I tried some things out, and I don't think that it is possible using ONLY mates.
I tried a combination of CAM and RACK AND PINION mates, and it works!, but only on the straight areas of the cam, if there are any. But once the Cam follower went around a corner, the rolling ceased and sliding started.
That's where I ended up too. perhaps that's as far as mates can take it.
I'm not sure if this will work becuase i did'nt try yet. Use motion study and increase the friction coefficient
This should work using the cam/follower mate, but in case you just can get it to work, there is a workaround. You can use a tangent mate between the two, but with the profile that creates the extrude for the came, select all of your sketch entities and do a fit spline on them. This way the tangent mate will always see a single face to make the follower tanget to.
I tried what you said, but the cam follower still slides not rolls.
I do not know if and where a setting is for friction coefficient.

yap You can not control friction if you check material so unchecked it so that it will give you the option to control the friction see in the picture material is unchecked

Yes, it is possible to make the cam follower roll on the cam surface. I created a youtube video and attached the models showing 2 ways to approach this solution. Hope this is helpful.
