I work with a lot of large assemblies that contain multiple sub-assemblies. Whenever someone changes the hidden/shown state of a part from the top level assembly, it over-rides the hidden/shown state of that part in the sub-assembly (a part can be hidden in the top level, but when the sub-assembly is opened it will still be shown).

The problem this sometimes presents, is that the sub-assembly loses control, so any display states that are setup in the sub-assembly no longer work correctly, which can make it difficult to trust what is being shown.

Is there a way to reset the top level assembly to give back control to the sub-assemblies? Is there a setting that controls this behavior?
