Hello to all,
we have SW2006 and the parts, assemblies, etc.. are on the server and we don't have PDM Works. The performance are not so great and the server is sometimes really busy. Is there a way to improve performance on the server?? We have about 10 users with assembly that goes between 1000 and 6000 parts and 40 others users with files on the server. We have a Gbits network and the server is a HP 380 G5 with 6 hard drives in RAID for the files.
Also, we will buy SW2009 very soon. Is the performance on my network/server will increase or decrease? Does someone have a setting like mine that can give me hint or expercience to share? Are we nuts work without PDM Works?
Thanks
Sorry for my english

Your server speed and network specs are very good, but will still fall far short of the performance you can get if you are just loading and saving to your local workstations. Where PDM Works and PDM Enterprise can help is that those programs first transfer a copy to your workstation and you work from that. PDM then takes care of synchronizing the files between local and network. Working local without PDM would be faster as well, obviously, but you would then have to deal with synchronizing files manually.
Good Luck
