Hello Solidworks community,

What are some ways that I can get centerlines between two complex curves (in general)

I included an image as an example. I want to generate a center line between the two curves in a closed contour.

How would I do this for multiple closed contours in the same sketch say...?

These are arbitrary sketches for a more complex drawing I have.

Would really appreciate some insight, thanks a bunch!

Hi Carlos

This question has been answered on the forum before but I can't find the post or take the credit for this solution

Offset a plane 100

have one of your curves on this plane

here I used a boundary surface to connect the two curves

offset a mid plane, again you have options, here I went split line

obviously you dont need mid plane, you could go 25% or whatever as many as you want

edit:

To show this technique working in a more complicated problem here is a curved staircase constructed in a similar vein

The walkline must be a mid curve, and the tread profiles must be equal along the walkine and normal to the two outer curves, with an equal rise.

so in essence it is similar to your problem but in 2 directions, a boundary surface works perfect to define the normal geometry

and then this is chopped up into as many curves as you need
