Another method, right click on a part, in the menu click the multicolored ball and then select an appearance for editing.
Here is a tutorial (simple and easy to follow) about rendering in SolidWorks/PV360. The first part talks all about appearances. Might be helpful.
I see that you have set the material, matte steel.
this will have a default appearance.
You can alter the appearance in several ways,
you can copy the material and change its default appearance, so that everytime you use this new material, the appearance will be as selected.
or you can apply appearance to parts, bodies, faces or features.
You are able to view all used appearance's using the design tree manager header at the top left, its the red& black circle icon.
I'd suggest you have the task pane open and pinned to your interface.
