I need to show cosmetic thread on the end of a pipe. I am looking for tapered thread, Specifically BSPT (R) and cannot seem to find it in the Cosmetic Thread option. How can i show a tappered thread on the end of a pipe?
Ok so I just reached out to our re seller for some support, and they didn't know how to make this happen. My suggestion to this, is to modify whatever text doc the Cosmetic Thread command is reading from and add my own NPT and BSPT to them. Seems silly that this is not in Solid works. This was a simple command in Solid Edge and Inventor.
You could cheat even more and add and edit an appearance to the surface:
Did you get this to work?
I need to add a 1/4" BSPT (R) to a model, but I cannot seem to get an option to do it.
Tried the appearance... definately not a goer.
I'm assuming you are just looking for a visual representation as Cosmetic Thread it is being mentioned and not a physicaly cut thread. If so then
Select the Cosmetic Thread tool and select the edge of the pipe you wish have the thread on. Add the specific thread callout
Create a drawing from your part and make sure the following options are ticked
On the plan view of the tube right click on the inner circle and there should be an option for Insert callout
Select this and the note from the model appears
You can then drag the note to the outer edge for a more accurate depiction.
Now, for whatever reason you were to edit the feature description back in the model
Say in this case to 1/8"
It auto populates the drawing
This was my back-up plan.
Do you know of any way to 'switch on' the options to use only from our custom library?
I can't seem to see how this is set-up so we can manage how SW uses this info.
It's so odd to not be allowed the tapered option SW has some strange methods..
