How to get rid of this unwanted portion? Part file is attached.
I might be missing something but if you go to 12:10 in the video it looks exactly like what you modeled. I model my threads as you did in your file and it seems fine to me.
Well, it all depends on how you want your threads to enter or exit the part.
Stopping them before they exit or enter the part isn't ideal, because then you have an impossible to machine condition.
The easiest way is to create a chamfer or angle on the end and let your threads cut through it into empty space (which it looks like has happened in your picture). If this is true, then this is the most "real world" approach. If you are cutting threads on a lathe, you need a place to start.
I am not sure why that area in unwanted, because mine looks the same way.
I haven’t seen a thread staring off the edge.
As far as I can tell from the picture, the thread isn't starting from the edge. It just continues the cut through the angled portion of the part. This creates the image that you see.
Here is on that I made. (normally I wouldn't have the chamfer at the end be so large, I just modified it to be larger to show the similarity).
This is a YouTube video. I use usual method to cut a thread but video use different method to cut. In the video thread is appearing from the edge only even though it begins before the edge.
