Help with cylindrical cut please

Hello all, this is my first post and I was going to see if someone here could help me out with a problematic part. I have even enlisted the help of an engineer, but to no avail.

The part I want to model is a cylinder with an elliptical cut path around it. It would manufactured on a milling machine with a 4th axis. So imagine the cylinder being spun slowly (like on a lathe) and the end mill piercing it to desired depth of cut. The end mill would travel left and then back right again as it spins to complete the cut at the original origin of the end mill pierce.

The problem I seem to have is keeping the cut parallel to the axis of the cylinder(read: bottom and sides of end mill need to stay parallel and perpendicular respectively)

I have modeled this the best I could and tried different modeling techniques, but nothing seems to come out correctly. Any input or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
