Most of you are probably well aware that AMD has launched a new series of processors, Ryzen. These are supposedly AVX2.

According to Dassault, Solidworks requires processor with SSE2 support. So my question is, is AVX2 backward compatible with SSE2, or will the Ryzen have SSE2?

Is there any reason this processor wouldn't work with Solidworks?

I am really keen on getting the Ryzen 1800X 8-core processor for various simulation tasks(solidworks, abaqux, nastran etc. and AMD are affordable.
