What is the best file format for SW opening a mold designed in Cimatron?

Question asked by Dave Egle on Feb 21, 2017

The mold design shop that we use uses Cimatron to design our molds in. The file are generally huge, on the order of 250MB to 300MB with every bolt, nut, washer, spring etc..... We generally get the file in either X_T or STP format. I useually have to start opening the files at 4:30PM just as I'm leaving and hope that it's open in the morning when I get in. If it is and I try to save the file in a native SW format it will usually lock up SW and I'll have to give it the 3 fingered salute (Ctrl+Alt+Delete). What is the best way to get these designs open in SW?

Thanks,

Dave
