I am trying to wrap a linear pattern (Tread) around a wheel I have created and I cannot figure out how to go about it. Please please help me because I am getting so frustrated!
Then use the wrap tool.
First Wrap the sketch and use wrap parameter - scribe
Zero offset the surface and after that thicken it - don't merge.
Now you can circular pattern the body.
I noticed that your planes and sketches dont say "3dsketch" etc. My image below shows me attempting to use your solution but I must be making some novice mistake. I apologize for wasting peoples time but I most likely missed some basic fundamentals when teaching myself solidworks.
It will not allow me to select my sketch in order to select the wheel to wrap.
This is because your sketch is 3D sketch.
You have to make it normal 2D sketch.
Please tell me what I am doing wrong when trying to make a 2D sketch on a 3D plane. What do I need to do in order to 2D sketch on a plane which I created? My sketches default to being in 3D and then I am unable to wrap.
You are still doing 3D sketch.
Do a normal 2D sketch on one of the main plains Front, Right of Top which is relevant for you.
