Can you upload the part?
In SW you can create a Reference Plane using 3 points as references. Set view normal to Reference Plane (CTRL-8) and use it in DWG.
(see dwg palette).
He knows the Normal Too option, I think he needs it turned but not sure..
Assuming your part has some thickness, you can define a plane through three points, one at each blue circle and a third one down (into the screen) from one of them. You can then orient the view to that plane and create a custom view. That custom view can be chosen as a view in your drawing. All other orthographic projections will work correctly once that view is inserted into your drawing. If the view is oriented incorrectly in the drawing, you can use the rotate view command (2 arrows in a circle) in the heads up display to rotate the view to align it.
Are you trying to create a view in 3D? Or trying to create a view in a drawing?
I will go through both ways.
I would create a plane to orient the view from.
First create some sketch geometry:
Then use that geometry to create your plane.
Then I can use that plane to orient to.
Then you can hit the "Spacebar" and bring up your orientation toolbar, and create a view:
In your drawing, you can either use that custom 3D view to create your 2D view, OR you can use the "Relative to Model" function:
Just select the function, then switch windows back to your part and select plane that you created as your front view and a perpendicular surface as your right view:
Hope this helps.
Thanks all! I can see there are many methods to making this view. I was ultimately attempting to add a drawing view, but I figured I would create a saved view in modeling first, then bring it into my drawing. Where I had difficulty was orienting the view & adding a plane worked perfectly for this case. Ideally, I would like to be able to create a view by selecting 3 points without creating any other geometry. "Normal" gives me a top view, but then it needs to be rotated. I am surprised that one has to go through these extra steps by creating geometry in order to create a view... when the points already exist. Guess I am used to 16 years of NX... Thank you!
