How to use 3D model coordinate points in python to identify shapes?

I am trying to write a program to identify what shape a 3D model is by its coordinate points obtained by saving a model as a VRML. I want to use these coordinate points in python to train a program to identify shapes such as cubes, spheres, rectangles, pyramids etc before moving onto more complex features such as fillets, chamfers etc.

Does anyone have any idea how to go about this because i am struggling currently with the programming and especially the machine learning side of things.

Thanks
