Sadly, Solidworks isn't officially supported on Windows 10, before 2015 SP5.
Try doing this on your machine:
1. Close SolidWorks
2. Open the Windows Registry Editor (via Windows Start menu, running a search for “regedit.exe”)
3. Navigate to the key “HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/SolidWorks/SolidWorks 2014/User Interface/Settings”
4. Delete the "WindowPos" string
Then open SolidWorks again and see if the issue remains.
I saw somewhere in a blog that other users had the same kind of problem and the way to get out of this is to Check and Uncheck Use Software OpenGL in Options. Well surprisingly it worked. But now, I am having freeze issues when I right click a feature. It takes around 5s to open the shortcut menus. And motion analysis takes too long.
And I tried what you have mentioned, but I don't feel any difference. The grey screen issue is gone already but now I'm left with performance issues.
Do you have an NVidia GeForce GTX graphics card in this machine? There have been issues for the last ~4 days due to driver updates on those cards. People have been updating to the latest graphics driver from www.geforce.com to fix that.
In addition to all of the options that you have tried and what Ryan Dark has said,
Make sure Solidworks is running in "Compatibility mode".
To do this, find your "sldworks.exe" file - (it will have the SolidWorks cube icon in the beginning).
Right Click on the SLDWORKS.exe file and select Properties.
In Properties - click on the "Compatibility" tab.
Check the box to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
Then select "Windows 7" (Windows 7 is a better option then Windows 8 and definitely don't use Windows 8.1)
It is also recommended to also set other SolidWorks systems to use Compatibility Mode. This includes "sldworks_fs.exe" and any other .exe file for an item that gives you problems (for toolbox, SW explorer, DriveWorks, Composer, ...)
I found a way to get out of this by Checking and Unchecking Use Software OpenGL in Options. But now, I am having freeze issues when I right click a feature. It takes around 5 secs to open the shortcut menus. And the feature previews don't appear as well. I deleted the registry and I'm also running it in compatibility mode. How to get over with this?
