To describe a design, assembly, model, etc. to others I often don't take the time to make a drawing I add annotation dimensions (smart dims) to 3d models and assembly document in solidworks.  But often if the 2 points I select to dimension between are not parallel the screen it shows the actual dimension not the dimension of those 2 point "smashed" or projected on the plane of the view I'm currently in.  This would be a great time saver for design presentations but am not sure how to do it.  Anyone know of such a technique?
