Is there a way to align sketch dimensions with each other (arrow tip to arrow tip) and lock them that way so that if you drag one dimension, the whole string drags with it?
This is in a part sketch, not a drawing.
Sorry only possible is drawing for the moment. Please vote for SPR #:543356
I like your thinking Michael, it would certainly neaten some of my part sketches up!
I have never found a way - wish I had
I will definitely vote for it. Not to be a bore, but how do I do that? Never voted for an SPR before.
You need to go to SOLIDWORKS Knowledge Base, search for the SPR and then vote for it.
Check this post correct way(s) to "Vote" for SPR - SW confirm?
I just cast a vote!
IMO, the voting procedure could be a little more straightforward...
Michael, please start a new post and suggest what improvements you would be looking forward to. That way other people can comments and combined all thoughts we can improve the process.
One would assume that this capability surely must be included in MBD?
That's a good point Rick. While I can say I've always taken pride in my drawings I cannot say the same for my sketches. MBD will certainly add a new level of detail to the way things are designed/built and the forethought required may be insurmountable in my case ... j/k
The way I construct/dimension geometry in order to build a model is mostly/always different from the dimensions I want on a paper print for inspectors to use to confirm conformance and to express form/fit/function.
It will be a Very long row to hoe for me.
