MY BOM DOESN'T SHOW WHEN COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN BALLOONED. I USED TO SEE THE LITTLE ICON ON THE SIDE OF MY BOM BUT IT NO LONGER WORKS. IS THIS A FEATURE THAT CAN BE TURNED ON AND OFF
Are you saying that, when you added a balloon to an item, that you would see the BOM change to let you know that that particular line item had been ballooned?
I didn't know that was a feature.
That being said, are you in a drawing that has more than 1 BOM? Maybe on a different sheet?
If so, make sure that the view you are adding balloons to references the correct BOM.
You can RMB on the view and go to properties and see which BOM it references.
I DO see the feature now! Wow! That is cool.
Dan Pihlaja, I don't think that is what was asked. The box you showed would need to be selected for all views with respect to the specific BoM for the balloon numbers to be properly linked to the BoM. Otherwise random number are assigned.
I think that Melany was writing that BoM's have the ability to display somehow if a balloon has been linked already (which would be news to me).
Just click the triple arrow on the left of the BOM to show the extra column.
Actually, I just found the feature that Melany is talking about....I never knew it was there!
Those little symbols show when a part has been ballooned.
When you delete the balloon for that item, the little symbol disappears.
The only thing that I can think of off the top of my head as to why they wouldn't show when you add a balloon is that the view you are ballooning isn't linked to the BOM you are looking at. If that is the case, then the answer above would work.
Either that, or the little triple arrow thing hasn't been clicked to expand the side of the BOM to show these.
I HAVE BEEN USING THIS FEATURE FOR A FEW YEARS AND IVE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE. I HAVE BEEN PLAYING WITH HOW THE BALLOONS TEXT CAN BE CALLED OUT AND IT TURNS OUT THAT THE BALLOONS ARE ONLY REGISTERING IN THE BOM IF THE BALLOON CALLOUT CHOSEN IS "ITEM NUMBER" AND I WOULD LIKE TO USE "PART NUMBER (BOM)". THERE HAS TO BE A SETTING THAT CHOOSES HOW THIS FEATURE REGISTERS THE BALLOONS IN THE BOM THAT MUST HAVE GOTTEN MESSED UP
Welcome to the forum. You said "THERE HAS TO BE A SETTING THAT CHOOSES HOW THIS FEATURE REGISTERS THE BALLOONS IN THE BOM THAT MUST HAVE GOTTEN MESSED UP", but I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's only for item numbers. And I hope you come back here often, but please refrain from the all caps. It's difficult for some of us old folks to read, and seems like you're shouting.
