I need to save a solidworks assembly in a format which can be opened in an older version of solidworks. I saved it in "parasolid" (.x_t), but when I open it with the older version all the mates disappear. The components are still there where they are supposed to be, but if I want to change their position for example I can't, because all the mates are gone and I cannot put it new ones. Does anyone know another way of doing this?
Parasolids are 'dumb' solids, the mates are lost.
Versions are not backward compatible.
Create a step file of the assy, open in the other SW version, then re-mate the parts.
