We updated all 5 of our machines to SolidWorks 2017 this week (We'd skipped from 2015 straight to 2017 - never got around to installing 2016 last year!).

Since doing this, we are finding that none of us are able to go to a BOM on a drawing and manually input a row of text. This is something we are used to doing a lot for things that we don't have part models for, but need to be included with the goods as they leave our factory (items like polythene bags, etc).

We would normally create an assembly as it would be manufactured, create the drawing, with BOM linked to assembly as normal, then at the bottom of the BOM table, we would manually add a few rows and type the extra items in by hand. Now with the new version, when we manually add rows to the BOM, type the part number, the description and quantity as before the Part no. instantly vanishes, but the description and qty stay put.

Any ideas? Suggestions?
