Somehow I managed to kill off the text box that drops down when you select a distance mate. I still have it if I select an angle mate. Any idea how to get it back?
It works as it is supposed to in 2016. I'd call that a bug.
What SW version r u running now, Scott
Can you try to select 2 parallel faces to see if it's appeared again !
Sorry, should always include that. I have 2017 SP1. I don't use it every day so I'm not sure when it actually went away. I know for sure it used to be there and pieces of it still are. If I carefully hover at the bottom edge of the window I still get the hint about flipping the dimension.
Yes, if I control select two faces and then the distance mate I do get the text box. If I begin a mate with the mate tool, select the two faces, wait for the faces to align as they default to coincident mate, then click the distance icon the faces separate back to their original locations but the text box does not appear. This is the screen shot from control select.
When you select 2 faces, SW provides options for you to pick; however, if you use mate tool, then the distant option might not be available from 2 faces
The hidden text box is still working. If I go ahead and enter a value the mate will be set as expected. I just can't see it.
Sounds like a question to ask your VAR about as it sounds like a glitch.
Well I get the exact same behavior on my home machine with completely different files. Either I have a setting wrong in both installs or it is a bug. I'd sure like to see someone else confirm it on their system before I bother my VAR.
Then I shall too. I'll send it to Fisher Unitech tomorrow morning. Thanks much.
Did you try the SolidWorks RX safe mode to confirm that it is not a setting change you made?
That's probably the first thing that the VAR will ask you to try.
The next thing I would do it run the diagnostics.
I hadn't but just did. Tried in open GL too just in case it was graphics. Same in all cases.
Thanks for pointing that out. I've not tried those troubleshooting tools before. Actually didn't even know they were there. I can think of more than a few times where my own tinkering broke things over the years and didn't even know where to begin trying to fix it.
Sorry it didn't fix the problem but at least you can tell your VAR that you did it and what the results were.
Good luck on getting it fixed - and It will be interesting to see the final findings when it is fixed.
Apologies for this. Work done to add the options to control distance mates involving cylinders (min/centre/max) resulted in this breakage - we have addressed it in 2017_sp02, so please take that when it's available and you should see the controls restored.
You are most welcome, and sorry again.
If you have already reported this to your VAR, then if you could follow-up and ask them to reference SPR 927240 in the SR, then that will help our back end process a little.
